Certified Structural Welder – Miami, FL

We are seeking experienced and certified structural welders for an industrial construction project in Miami. Candidates must be proficient in both SMAW (stick welding) and FCAW (flux-core welding) and have previous experience working with structural steel components in commercial or industrial construction environments.

Welders will be responsible for welding, fitting, and assembling structural steel components, including beams, columns, braces, supports, and other load-bearing connections. Candidates must be capable of producing high-quality welds in various positions while following approved welding procedures, structural drawings, and applicable safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• Welding Certification: Must possess applicable structural welding certifications or qualifications for both SMAW and FCAW processes. AWS D1.1 qualifications are strongly preferred.
• Dual-Process Experience: Must be proficient in both stick welding (SMAW) and flux-core welding (FCAW).
• Structural Welding Experience: Previous experience welding beams, columns, braces, steel plates, supports, and load-bearing structural connections.
• Welding Positions: Experience performing flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead welds. 3G and 4G qualifications are strongly preferred.
• Weld Types: Experience performing multipass welds, fillet welds, groove welds, and complete-joint-penetration welds where required.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret structural drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication diagrams preferred for higher pay consideration.
• Fit-Up and Preparation: Knowledge of proper joint preparation, beveling, grinding, alignment, and tack welding.
• Quality Control: Ability to produce structurally sound welds meeting applicable AWS D1.1 standards and project specifications.
• Safety: Knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements, hot work procedures, fall protection, and safe welding practices.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform structural steel welding using both SMAW and FCAW processes.
• Weld structural beams, columns, braces, steel plates, supports, and other structural connections.
• Perform vertical-up, overhead, horizontal, and flat welding as required.
• Prepare welding surfaces through grinding, cleaning, cutting, and beveling.
• Complete fit-up, alignment, tack welding, and final welding of structural components.
• Follow approved welding procedure specifications (WPS) and structural drawings.
• Inspect completed welds for defects and perform necessary repairs.
• Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, and other fabrication tools.

Preferred Experience

• AWS D1.1 structural welding qualifications for SMAW and FCAW.
• Previous experience on industrial construction, steel erection, or structural fabrication projects.
• 3G and 4G welding qualifications.
• Experience with vertical-up and overhead structural welding.
• Ability to independently read blueprints and interpret welding symbols.
• Experience working from scaffolding, elevated platforms, or aerial lifts.
