What The Role IsWe are looking for a Control Center Lead to join the Real-Time Operations Team in Scottsdale, AZ. The team currently monitors and controls 10 GW of utility-scale renewable energy plants, including wind, solar, and BESS.

The Control Center Lead will support on-shift Operations Specialists in daily operations and activities and will report directly to the Manager, Real-Time Operations. This position requires working 12.5-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous operations and monitoring of the CEG utility fleet.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide guidance and support to the on-shift Real-Time Operations Specialists in day-to-day job activities and responsibilities
  • Manage the RCA and continuous improvement process regarding real-time operations issues, mistakes, and common practices
  • Assist in proactively monitoring real-time activity, performance, and operational status of all wind, solar, and BESS assets
  • Assist Real-Time Operations Specialists in understanding and identifying abnormal operations or alarm conditions that arise during the shift and appropriately troubleshoot in a timely fashion
  • Perform periodic operator log reviews for accuracy and compliance
  • Perform acceptance testing on RPMC tools or applications used by on-shift Operations Specialists
  • Support commissioning activities for new projects
  • Support and assist in the onboarding, training, and qualification of new Operations Specialists
  • Implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with internal and quality controls for customers and field personnel, and distribute this information to the Real-Time Operations Specialists
  • Support and assist with RFIs, data requests, and other assigned duties
  • Provide constructive feedback, mentoring, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Support operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for improvement and helping implement best practices

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in power plant operations
  • 4-year degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of plant and system processes, with experience operating electrical or SCADA systems
  • Ability to interpret NERC, ERCOT, WECC, CAISO, PJM, and SPP regulations and requirements
  • Availability for 24-hour on-call duty as needed to support the Operations Team
  • Knowledge of functional system interactions and strong attention to detail in a complex, regulated environment
  • Ability to make financial decisions based on real-time power plant equipment analysis and contract-related cost considerations (risk vs. reward)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities while ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence
  • Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, and conduct analysis independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to work effectively in challenging customer situations
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
