Electrical Commissioning Technician – Richmond, VA
Job Description
The Electrical Pre-Commissioning Tech 1 supports conveyor and material handling system startup activities by assisting with electrical checks, wiring verification, troubleshooting, and equipment validation. This role is ideal for candidates with foundational electrical or mechatronics experience looking to grow within industrial automation and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret conveyor blueprints and installation manuals
- Perform basic electrical wiring, termination, and troubleshooting
- Assist with material handling system pre-commissioning activities
- Support testing of controls and machine functionality
- Use electrical test equipment including multimeters
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and customers
- Complete assigned work safely and on schedule
- Travel extensively to project sites throughout the U.S.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–3 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, maintenance, QC, or material handling environments
- Basic understanding of:PLC controls AC/DC circuits Multiphase power distribution Industrial networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, AS-I, ProfiBus/ProfiNet)
- Intermediate computer skills including MS Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or PLC Controls
- Experience with Dematic systems or conveyor controls
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to travel if needed.
