Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nurse to provide and oversee resident care in a long-term care facility. The Nurse will direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants, administer medications and treatments, maintain accurate electronic medical records, implement resident care plans, and ensure nursing services are provided in accordance with established standards and facility policies.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing the long-term care facility.
• Ensure nursing personnel comply with facility policies and procedures.
• Meet with assigned nursing and support staff to plan shift services, programs, and activities.
• Prepare written and oral reports and recommendations regarding shift activities as required.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
• Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, and other administrative duties as necessary.
• Transcribe physician orders into the resident's electronic medical record.
• Implement resident care plans upon completion of admission assessments.
• Document accidents and incidents and complete required assessments.
• Ensure accurate documentation in all areas of the resident's electronic medical record.
• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
• Ensure adequate supplies of medications, equipment, and other nursing supplies are available.
• Notify the resident's physician and emergency contact of changes in the resident's condition.
• Ensure personnel providing direct care follow the resident's care plan and wishes.
• Conduct daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing their assignments according to acceptable nursing standards.
• Ensure department personnel, residents, and visitors follow established policies and procedures.
• Ensure rooms are ready for new admissions and confirm expected arrival times and room assignments.

Requirements

• RN or LPN/LVN degree from an accredited college or university.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills for electronic charting and medical records systems, including PointClickCare (PCC).
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Willingness to learn and incorporate new methods and principles into nursing procedures.
• Must follow safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
• Must maintain a professional appearance and wear the required uniform.
• Patience, tact, and a positive attitude, with the ability to work with difficult residents.
• Willingness to accept reassignment of duties and/or caseload as needed to provide appropriate resident care.
• Must successfully pass a criminal history check in accordance with applicable state laws.
• Must successfully pass a drug screen and/or physical examination if requested.
