Shop Structural Fitters (Night-Shift)

Structural Steel Fitter – Fabrication Shop

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8–10 hour days
Duration: Indefinite
Pay: $24.00/hr (Local candidates only – no per diem)

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and shop prints
• Fit and assemble beams, columns, plates, angles, and other steel components
• Measure, mark, cut, grind, and prep materials
• Lay out holes, clips, stiffeners, and attachment points
• Square, level, clamp, and align materials prior to welding
• Work closely with welders to complete assemblies
• Verify fit-up meets shop tolerances and quality standards
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Requirements:

• Previous structural fitting or steel fabrication experience required
• Ability to read a tape measure and shop drawings accurately
• Experience with grinders, squares, levels, clamps, and basic shop tools
• Reliable transportation and strong work ethic
• Must be able to work in a fabrication shop environment

PPE Required: Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and proper work attire

Testing:

• Tape measure, math, and blueprint reading test
• Hands-on fitting test (layout, grinding, fitting, alignment)
• Must demonstrate proper tool usage and meet shop quality standards
• Tack welding may be required
