Welder – Sturgeon Bay, WI

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Flux Core Welders with pipe-welding experience to support commercial ship construction in a shipyard environment in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Candidates must be experienced with FCAW and capable of producing quality welds on pipe and structural components.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) on pipe and structural steel.
• Weld pipe in various positions, including vertical and overhead.
• Perform fillet and groove welds in accordance with welding procedures.
• Fit and weld pipe components while maintaining proper alignment and weld quality.
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Perform grinding, cleaning, and weld preparation as required.
• Inspect welds for quality and correct defects as necessary.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Follow all shipyard safety and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous commercial shipyard or shipbuilding experience preferred.
• Proven experience welding pipe using Flux Core (FCAW).
• Ability to weld in multiple positions.
• Ability to pass required welding qualification tests.
• Ability to read basic blueprints and welding symbols.
• Must have personal hand tools appropriate for welding.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and other shipyard environments.
